PIDP 3240 Media Enhanced Learning

It’s been over a year since I’ve posted and now I’m back with another course from the PIDP. Please stay tuned as I will be exploring the possibilities of being an educator with the aid of technology.

    Hello there, Johnson!

It’s Val again. Good for you for persisting and keeping up the program. I totally fell away, but that’s because I spent a year doing math at UFV and then volunteering with marginalized adults in Mission. I find it interesting that you mention ‘exploring being an educator with the aid of technology.’ With the demographic I am interested in working with (literacy, lower-level ABE, people in recovery and with mental health issues), the last thing they need, or want, or can handle is technology. In fact, the big thing is keeping education face-to-face. Everything I see coming out of the PIDP program seems to be related to technology in some way. Do you mind me asking about that? Do you think this course is now mainly about how to use technology in teaching? I would love your opinion, because I think that a lot of employers still think of the PIDP as the old program, but I wonder if I would be able to complete it now if I didn’t focus on technology. Anyhow, good for you for sticking it out!

Hey Val, I know it’s a late reply but I owe it to you. Sorry, I only use the blog for the program and I’m glad to say that I’m in my final course! To answer your question, the program is defineatly about the learning and there is a particular course for the technology side (media enhanced learning). I think the program is trying to get with the times and is trying to utilize what it preaches in terms of usefulness of technology and how far it can reach globally. I have someone in my class that is from Qatar. I think that’s so cool. I’ll be on the blog for the next 2 months so maybe I will hear back from you soon.

      Take care,
      Johnson
